Died in Vein?

Thu Oct 29, 2009, 8:11 AM
I get to work, open my browser, and to my distain I read the headline "Obama sees cost of war up close", and below it reads "The president's predawn trip to the tarmac at Dover Air Force Base marks a change from the Bush years." Of course, I read on to the article. I want to gag after the first line; "Standing in the pre-dawn darkness, President Barack Obama saw the real cost of the war in Afghanistan: The Americans who return in flag-covered cases while much of the nation sleeps in peace." I can contain myself because I know this is how the media sees things. I know that most people who follow the media as if it were their religion see the war as 'evil', 'bad', and 'Bush's War,' so I try not to give much thought to the lines in which Obama is the victim of some terrible trick and now he much pick up the pieces of 'Bush's War' as if he were Nixon and this were 1969. What I come to find uphauling is this single statement; "The dramatic image of a president on the tarmac was a portrait not witnessed in years. Former President George W. Bush said the appropriate way to show his respect for war's cost was to meet with grieving military families in private, as he often did, but he never went to Dover to meet remains coming off the cargo plane. Obama did so with the weight of knowing he may soon send more troops off to war." ... What does that tell you? To me, this says Pres. Bush felt he must respect those fallen in war, and nothing else. But Pres. Obama must glorify it. I am outraged by these photographs. I am sickened by this grave disrespect for those who fought for freedom. I can't believe OUR PRESIDENT sees no issue with a photo shoot featuring himself, in noble and prestige pose, and the remains of fallen soldiers.

I am well aware of the times we live in. Nothing is sacred any more, not even death and grief, but I am still ashamed to say that in American anything goes. The media knows no bounds. They show no respect to anything, not even the law, and Obama is their president.

My name is Rae.

I am 19 yr old. I feel much older however. lol

I draw and write. I wouldn't consider myself necessarily an 'artist', but I try.

I'm really into rock [anything but metal or punk]. On occasion, I listen to pop, classical, or even jazz. Above all, I think I could listen to The Killers, Danny Elfman, and the Great John Williams forever.
